In the mid 1990’s, Island Fox populations started to decline and in 2004 they were added to the endangered species list. They inhabit coastlines, sand dunes, grasslands, marshes, foothills, woodlands, chaparral, scrub, sagebrush, and more. The Channel Island fox case involved several complex factors that led to their near-extinction and to their recovery.
