3 RESULTS 3.1 Biomass and green‐up Wehausen (1998) concluded that “a negative influence of burros on bighorn sheep demography has not been shown as support for true competition.” Arizona’s current estimated population of bighorn is 6,000. Fawn birth dates were estimated from appearance of spotting in coats and nursing behavior (Anderson & Wallmo, 1984). From these 10, we selected two cameras within each of the four following habitat types along an elevation gradient: desert shrub, Joshua tree, pinyon‐juniper, and ponderosa pine associations. Burros do not bother other wildlife, such as bighorn. A water catchment for wildlife was installed by the Arizona Fish and Game Department ca. Burros do not disadvantage mule deer. The most “affordable” sheep hunt in the North America is Dall sheep, which start at about $15,000 and Desert Bighorn Hunts have been sold at nearly $200,000. 250 m from our study area in 2007 and may have increased use of the area by bighorn sheep, which would be consistent with our observations of increased fresh sheep scat from 2008 onward.
The aoudad or Barbary sheep provides the unique opportunity for nearly any hunter to enjoy sheep hunting.
These two desert species have been subject to the same indignities of living alongside humans: They both have been hunted to the brink of extinction, and both have been transplanted to this part of West Texas, as aoudads, and later new populations of desert bighorns, were brought in to replace diminished bighorn herds. 8. Mule deer had an overall infection prevalence with B. duncani of 75.8% (95% BCI 64.14–84.47%) and all positive deer were infected with the BH3 strain by phylogenetic analysis of the β-tubulin gene.
Texas bighorn were said by TPWD to have been of the sub-species “Texensis.”

Moreover, fawn surveys are designed to avoid anthropogenic landscapes specifically because they tend to be demographically biased. Sample sizes for annual mule deer surveys in Utah averaged 19,859 ± 3,147 (range = 16,862–25,097), and 2,862 ± 184 in Arizona (range = 2,493–3,305).
“Based on this definition, desert bighorn sheep are an “alien invasive species” and should be eradicated. Bighorn sheep samples were collected from San Bernardino County. Desert bighorn were extinct in Texas by 1960. Our project report is based on population data for prairie chickens collected during a 2-year preconstruction period (2007-2008), a 3-year postconstruction period (2009-2011) and one final year of lek surveys (2012).
